Nazi Leaders In World War II Essay Many people have contributed to the cruel treatment of human beings, specifically Jews, in Nazi Germany during the second World War. This is a report on the damage carried out by some of the Nazi criminals working under the rule of Adolf Hitler. Many people contributed in Hitlers attempt to carry out his Final Solution. Among these people are Ernst Roehm, Joseph Goebbels, Adolf Himmler, and Hermann Wilhelm Goering. While I discuss how they partook in World War Two, keep in mind their actions will, and have, left a mark on the world forever. Little is known about Ernst Roehms childhood. He was a quiet boy who never went looking for trouble and didnt express hatred towards anyone, mostly because his parents were Libertarians and never paid attention to the politics in Germanys heartland. In college, Hitlers ideas and notions had a strong impact on Roehms personality. Though Roehm never graduated, he joined the Free Corps, a group of soldiers dedicated to changing injustices in the German government. After a while, Roehm started to grow tired of the Free Corps non- violent style, and he was tempted to be more of an activist in government reform. Hitler, looking to recruit fellow officers in his plan, then in its infancy, liked Roehms strong presence and personality. Roehm, jobless and nowhere to go, joined Hitlers office. After Hitler was elected into office some years later, he split his dictatorship into different divisions. Roehm, being one of the original officers, was chosen as head of the Sturmabteilung, or SA, commo nly referred to as the Brownshirts and storm-troopers. By 1932, the Brownshirts had reached more than 400,000 members. All types of men who Hitler saw fit enough to join were members. Among them were ex-Free Corps soldiers like Roehm, students who werent able to find jobs, shopkeepers who went out of business or werent profitable enough, the unemployed, uneducated, and common criminals. As you can see, they were a very diverse bunch. Roehm had full power over where they demonstrated and protested. What was their cause? None really. They were merely an idea of Hitlers to spread his popularity, as well as the Nazi Partys. They roamed the streets of Munich, often drunk, singing racist stanzas from songs, beating anyone they thought, judging just from appearance who they thought was a Jew or a Communist. Roehm screamed to the marching storm-troopers, We will brawl our way to greatness. He enjoyed violence for its own sake, and he is quoted as saying to reporters after they burned down a kosher diner, in which he also had the left side of his nose shot off, Since I am an immature and wicked man, war and unrest appeal to me more than order. In one incident, Joseph Goebbels and Hermann Goering, heads of other Nazi divisions, jealous of Roehm and the rest of the Brownshirts public popularity, even though they had morepower internally, conspired against Roehm and the storm-troopers. They forged letters and documents to Hitler in Roehms name, in which confessions of high treason were written. Many members of the storm-troopers were executed. When Hitler himself came to partake in the executions, they started screaming Heil Hitler, the salute to Hitler. Hitler realized that the documents had been forged, and let the rest, including Roehm go free. Hitler and the storm-troopers never found out who had written them. Another incident of a much greater magnitude was the night of long knives, on June 30, 1934. Hitler cut off relations with all his fellow branches except the SS . He let most of them all go, except members of the storm-troopers. They were all executed, and Roehm insisted that Hitler kill him. He felt any other person to kill him would be considered unfaithful to Hitler and an undignified death. This gave the Nazis an excuse to bring down the Communist Party by search and seizures, arrests, and killings, using t he excuse that they were withholding evidence from the fire. Critique of Discobolos (The Disc Thrower) Free Online Research Papers The piece of art I have selected to critique is Discobolus, aka The Disc Thrower currently on display in Rome, Italy. This majestic Classical period piece of art is the perfect portrayal of a finely tuned athlete at the peak of immense concentration prior to his release of a discus into space. The symbolism of Discobolus includes perfection, concentration, and athleticism. It is an explosion of kinetic energy displayed throughout every muscle fiber of the human body. It was sculpted by the infamous Athenian sculptor Myron during the 5th Century around 450 B.C. Myron is noted for making statues of Gods and other Greek hero’s, he is most famous for his sculptures of athlete’s. His sculpting of athletes was more diligent, introducing greater boldness and rhythm, focusing on the sculpture as a whole not separated by parts. Myron’s sculptures were said to be more harmonious in proportions and more realistic than any other sculptor of his time. Myron is often credited with being the first sculptor to master this style and it was his attention to care to the finer points of the Art that truly set him a part from his peers and predecessors. Originally cast in bronze, Discobolus is one of the most famous classic Greek statues’ from this period. Discobolus is engaging in the discus throw boasting vigorous and convincing movements in a perfect made form. His flexing muscles and concentrated expression create the impression of a tightly stretched bow. The symmetria is perfect. Myron has created the enduring pattern of athletic energy. He has taken a moment of action so specific that current students of athletics still debate if it Discobolus movements are even feasible today. The moment Myron has captured in the statue is an example of perfect harmony and balance. Discus-Throwing was one of the first sports mastered by a pentathlon. Pentathletes were often considered inferior to athletes of other sports. Since no single muscle group is over developed in a Discus-thrower there physic was more admired vice their physical ability as an athlete. Discobolus is displayed completely nude as were many sculpture’s of Greek athletes of this time period. His pose is said to be unnatural to man, and in today’s time period considered to be a rather inefficient way to throw the discus. Critiques believe that pentathletes of the 15th century utilized a three-quarter turn throwing technique, rather that the two and a quarter turn used by today’s athletes. That makes comparison of techniques rater void. There is very little emotion shown in the discus throwers face. To many critiques it may seem that Myrons desire for perfection has made him focus too rigorously on the sense of strain in the individual muscles, and not the complete action of the athlete. Discobolus is a sculpture in the round that was molded upon perfection that has been copied numerous times. As early as 1781, Discobolus Palombara is the first known replica. Once owned by Adolf Hitler, it is now displayed in the National Museum of Rome. There are many other copies of Discobolus that are on display throughout the world. Few are in its original bronze state many are made of marble and plaster. Even in currency Discobolus was portrayed on the Greek 1000 Greek drachma banknote of 1987-2001, further establishing itself as one of the greatest pieces of art ever created. I consider this work by Myron a piece of art that will live on for generations. The inspiration it provides and precise mechanics it follows stuns critiques and athletes a like. Leadership in Nursing

Leadership in Nursing Mahoney (2001) points out the importance of developing future leaders among nurses. Leadership qualities are often required in nurses’ work, especially when they treat people who work in the top-management sector. At the same time, bureaucratic type of leadership implies strict adherence to established system of rules and regulations. Another type of leadership allows other employees to search for a best decision, considering different solutions, and making employees participate in planning and in success of the overall work (Fradd, 2004). Another type of leadership is called laissez-faire leadership, and it gives employees almost total freedom in decision-making and goal setting. This type is described by Faugier Woo lnough (2002) as the most risky one. The most flexible type of leadership is situational leadership, where a leader switches among different styles, depending on a situation and a particular goal. We considered the basis of a leadership theory and common types of leadership. Moiden (2002) states that theory is used to describe reality, while various types of leadership are different ways to implement such a theory. Every organization has to consider different approaches and choose a style that corresponds to particular goals. Choosing a necessary style, an organization must look for a best performance in various conditions. Here the point is to provide highest efficiency in any circumstances (Moiden, 2002). We also have to highlight the key difference between leadership and management. Leaders provide motivation, proper vision, and inspiration, while managers provide control and planning (Faugier Woolnough, 2002). Transformational Leadership VS Transactional Leadership According to Outhwaite (2003), transactional type of leadership requires certain skills which can improve everyday routine and increase its efficiency. The main goal of transformational leadership is to ensure that all members of team cooperate and benefit from innovations. Good leader is able to assess everyone’s potential and interests of any particular employee, sorting tasks and involving members of a team depending on their individual skills. In turn, such an approach helps the leader develop his or her leadership abilities, which creates necessary environment for the further development of their careers. According to Outhwaite (2003), leaders must be able to determine obstacles and possible conflicts, in order to solve any problems at the very beginning. Leader should be close to the team, participating in the process, and staying in touch with all members of the team. When a leader is an important part of the team, he or she serves as an example, and is able to estimate all difficulties, goals, and perspectives. Thus, a real leader must be responsible and qualified. While the goal of transactional leaders is to provide effective everyday work, transformational leaders must help employees unleash and develop their full potential. This type of leader should create the necessary direction and motivate everyone to focus on necessary tasks. According to Cook (2001), transformational leader must influence others, giving them understanding of most important goals. Faugier Woolnough (2002) point out the importance of articulating and developing necessary vision among different members of a team. While transactional leaders should provide efficient management, transformational leaders, must be able to increase possibilities of employees, and so provide better conditions for the entire project. De Geest et al. (2003) describe feature of transformational management on the example of Magnet hospitals. They illustrate how development of leadership positions improved the level of treatment among employees, as well as patients. These hospitals provided a number of innovations, creating the atmosphere of trust, providing highest ethical standards, and estimating all possibilities of development in future (De Geest et al., 2003). Authors note that leadership skills are mostly important today, when directions of health care change all the time, due to technological innovations and increase in demand among patients. Authors state that such a type of leadership provides much higher level of satisfaction among employees, therefore creating necessary motivation and increasing performance. In turn, such changes provide higher level of satisfaction among patients. According to De Geest et al. (2003), leaders have to implement democratic, efficient, and supportive methods, to provide non- stop development, and guarantee benefits for both patients and employees. Transformational leadership considers interpersonal relations between the leader and other employees, which is why we must mention empowerment (Hyett, 2003). Empowerment gives nurses confidence and will to act efficiently in any circumstances. Implementing a team approach, leaders must be able to create strict boundaries and formulate clear goals. The team must be supported on every stage of the process. At the same time, Welford (2002) notes that a nurse manager must be able to create a balance between the use of power and democratic methods, in order to avoid abuse of power. Hyett (2003) focuses on the atmosphere of trust and respect, defining it as the key feature of transformational leadership. Clinical Governance VS Shared Governance Generally, clinical governance is a relatively new approach, which implies the National Health Service’s control over the quality of service, as well as provides new standards of treatment. Moiden (2002) writes about the creation of necessary environment to improve clinical service. Modern standards of UK government imply new types of leadership that are able to support diversity among employees, building a strong community at the same time. A leader must be able to find common ground in every situation, negotiating with staff, motivating and persuading them. Author highlights three necessary methods that help improve communication between workers and a leader, such as instructions, caring relationships, and modelling, which is supporting a point with examples. De Geest et al. (2004) sorts necessary skills, and creates a list of five necessary practices for leaders, including modelling, inspiring, motivating to act in a certain way, challenging, and encouraging. A leader must be able to correctly assess contributions, creating the atmosphere of competition among employees, therefore encouraging them and increasing performance. Mahoney (2001) states that such an approach helps the leader to focus not only on leadership issues, but on the whole team as well. Practice Settings Hyett (2003) notes that most health visitors have no necessary mechanisms of self-control, which could help them make decisions and take them out of a self-led environment. In such conditions, nurses don’t initiate changes, since such initiatives don’t find support. As a result, most active nurses lose their confidence and don’t feel able to support their colleagues. Most patients assess medical care depending on the nurse’s behavior, so this profession is one of the most important medical professions in the context of individual trust. How Do We Select Our Life Mates - Research Paper Example One of the theories that contemporary social science uses is called Five-factor personality traits model. This model uses five distinct characteristics to describe an individual’s personality. This assignment conducted a survey to determine self-portraits of 190 respondents through a set of questionnaires. Survey questionnaires were tailored to characterize respondents per Big-five model theory. The respondents then described the portrait of their expected life partners through the same questionnaires. This assignment conducts a literature review on mate selection process; uses the results of the survey to test several correlations between respondents’ self portraits and their mates' portraits. The assignment presents the results of the findings. How Do We Select Our Life mates? Introduction The man said, â€Å"This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.† – this is said in the 23rd verse of the Genesis 2:23. The next verse, Genesis 2:24 says,† That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is to his wife, and they become one flesh (â€Å"BibleGateway.com†, n.d.). This is how everything started and until this day we ponder with the question how to select our life mates (Kim,n.d.). Choosing a life partner is one of the crucial decisions that all of us face in the lives. Unfortunately, neither our schools nor our society provides us with the foresight and knowledge needed to make the best possible choice (Kim, n.d.). In the process of adolescent development, an individual creates an identity, which contains a set of self-defined commitments (Klimstra, et.al., 2012). Two unique personalities with two separate identities in future create the nucleus of a new family. It can truly be compared with the birth of a new star. That is why; both social science and society spend enormous time to find the answer which two personalities may be the best combination as  a couple. The science has been struggling to find a theory that may be attributed to the mate selection process. Could it be ideal mate personality concept, dark triad concept, or big-five model of personality? The scope of this research does not constitute the goal in focusing on merits and demerits of various concepts in mate selection process; it rather analyzes the correlations between mate selection and big-five model of personality traits. Mate selection from cross-cultural and historical perspective strongly varies from country to country and culture to culture (â€Å"Introduction to Sociology†, n.d.; Figueredo, et.al., 2006). This process even in the same culture with the passage of time makes evolutionary or revolutionary changes. For example; sixty years from now in the USA this selection process predominately was based on how one’s parents felt about him or her, how stable his or her economic resources appeared to be, how healthy the person appeared to be, how good/moral his or her character appeared to be (â€Å"Introduction to Sociology†, n.d.). However, today it is not a selection but a search. Nonetheless, both selection and search have criteria. To identify the search criteria, this search conducted a qualitative survey focusing on the attributes of big five personality traits. Personality can be considered as a metric that describes a person’s character through quality, which makes one individual different from another individual. I. INTRODUCTION   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  This report aims to discuss and to enrich the reader’s knowledge on the proper desludging and disposal of waste accumulated from septic tanks. The information gathered here is vital as it provides a culture of awareness to everyone on how wastewater is disposed of. Wastewater comes from everywhere; from our residences to our workplaces, even public places. Filipinos as we are, have been known to be hygienic yet we know little of what happens when our used water is flushed to the drain until it’s carried off to treatment plants. It is imperative that we, as citizens, must have an idea on how the whole process works and how beneficial/ detrimental it is to the people and to our environment.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Before we continue with this paper, we must define some of the important terms used in this report. A Septic Tank is a watertight container which receives the discharge of a plumbing system. It was designed and constructed to separate solids from the liquid; digest the organic matter and allow the liquid waste to discharge in a storm drain. It is used to provide a storage place so as to give opportunity for the bacteria to reduce all solids to liquid form, and to provide a breeding place to increase the number of bacteria to accelerate the decomposition of solids. Desludging is the process of removing or vacuuming the septic tank content. The septic tank content or Septage, is the combination of scum (masss that floats on the tank surface), sludge (solids that settled on the bottom) and liquid pumped out from a filled-up septic tank. II. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY (REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In August 1997, the Ayala-led Manila Water Company took over the East Zone of Metro Manila from the government-owned Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System through a 25-year concession agreement, while the Lopez-led Maynilad Water Services took over the West Zone. According to some studies before this study was made, about 76 percent of the water supply for Metro Manila comes from the Angat Reservoir, with the rest of the supply coming from the Ipo and La Mesa Watersheds and from groundwater. The Ipo and La Mesa Watersheds contribute about 14 percent and seven percent of the total supply, respectively, while only about three percent comes from groundwater. Only three percent of the East Zone is connected to the sewerage system, which also is connected to the treatment plant.

Studies have shown that an increasing trend of domestic violence is being perpetrated in heterosexual households. Many of these cases involve the male abusing the female, and the female actively attempting to maintain an outward appearance of normalcy despite the silent suffering. This outward image is nothing but a cover to maintain an illusion to the world that everything is good in the relationship, and also in many cases for fear of further abuse for drawing attention to the issue. The studies also show that abuse crosses all age and socioeconomic group boundaries. This study is credible as it comes from the U.S. Department of Justice. Penguin. In this book, the author takes a deep look into the mental pictures of men whom have been noted as angry and highly controlling. Further, it looks at the effect of this type of man on his spouse over long periods of time together. Finally it ventures into some of the warning signs that could be picked up on, problems faced when trying to get legal help to combat the issue, the abusive personalities of men, as well as the change management required to correct the issues, and escape them for the women. This is a highly credible source as it was written by Lundy Bancroft. Bancroft has had over 15 years of experience in this exact field of study. This is a non-fiction work which shows how society can make the experience of being abused even more traumatic on a female. It shows how sexual abuse against a female can link to domestic terrorism. The book brings about some interesting parallels between a public trauma (terrorism) and a private trauma (rape). It also discusses the way that these public traumas can leave scars, which is akin to the lasting scars and loss of self respect which can occur within a female who has suffered sexual abuse. This source gains credibility from the author, Dr. Judith Herman. Dr. Herman is a professor at Harvard University and also the director of training for victim violence at the Cambridge Hospital. The study scope covered 103 females whom had suffered economic abuse by their partner. This study highlights that males not only use sexual and physical violence, but also are found to use economic violence. This study gains credibility due to its’ composition by a portion of diverse scholars at Michigan University. Megan Greeson, Adrienne Adams, Deborah Bybee, and Cris Sullivan are professors at Michigan University whom have been engaged in community based and highly collaborative research. This study was published in 2008 and was put together with first hand details given by those who experienced the domestic abuse. This study affirms the thesis showing the way males attempt to gain control over females and using economic abuse. It shows how economic abuse affects victims by making them feel helpless. When the Japanese had economic success for a long time, also with an American fear of WWII, the Nazis, and a long-standing anti-Asian racism turned into disaster when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The bombing killed more than 2,300 Americans. It completely destroyed the American battleship U.S.S. Arizona and capsized the U.S.S. Oklahoma. The attack sank or beached a total of twelve ships and damaged nine others. 160 aircraft were destroyed and 150 others damaged.
